Dynamics 365 Online Connecting to the API using OATH?

Posted on by 9

I have a partner who is working on connecting their API to the Dynamics API. They are not creating a new application just wanting to move some data from their application into Dynamics. I have provided them the proper connection API''s from the Customizations > Developer Resources Tab in Dynamics but they are saying this isn't what they need.

They are saying they are not building a new application, but it's an existing application. They are saying that they still will need three pieces of information. He is saying the instance I am using does not include these features however other he has read the documentation that this exists? I have given them an Administrator account for this test (trial version.)

  1. OATH URL
  2. Client Key
  3. Client Secret

Can anyone help me guide them in the right direction?

    Hi Wal,

A Trial version will have the WebAPI endpoint available - but to make a call they will need to get a auth token.

You can do this using David Yack's WebAPI tools - see github.com/.../Query-Examples

They can get an access token from https://xrm.tools/AccessToken

    Also they can use https://xrm.tools/WebAPI

    Hope this helps

    Scott
