Depreciation of the contract, contract lines & contract templates. Entitlements don't solve the purpose at all.

What I understand is depreciation of the contract, contract lines & templates, means that no further enhancement & development will be done by Microsoft around these entities but it will be still supported until they are completely removed.

So before looking for a work around or doing development to to build this functionality(Entitlements don't solve the purpose at all) I am looking for answers to following:

  1. Can we deploy the solution with contract, contract lines to version(9.0) where the features are depreciated?
  2. Can we upgrade the instance with contract, contract lines to version(9.0) for which this feature is depreciated?
  3. Can we deploy the solution with contract, contract lines to the version(10.0 or 11.0) where these features will be removed?
  4. Can we upgrade the instance with contract, contract lines to a version(10.0 or 11.0) for which this feature will be removed?

AND most importantly

5.When Microsoft is completely removing the functionality next year release or couple of years later?

Important changes coming in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/get-started/whats-new/customer-engagement/important-changes-coming#contracts-contract-line-items-and-contract-templates-entities-are-deprecated

Raghu

    Hi Raghuraj,

    To answer your questions.

    1. These entities still exist in version 9.0, so you should be able to deploy your solution to version 9.0.
    2. These entities still exist in version 9.0, so you should be able to upgrade your instance to version 9.0.
    3. There is currently not much information on Version 10.0 and 11.0 so this question is difficult to answer.
    4. There is currently not much information on Version 10.0 and 11.0 so this question is difficult to answer.
    5. Next year seems likely.

    Hi,

Though this hasn't happened yet so can't say for sure  but based on as on date,-

    1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. No (considering the components are removed)

    4. There should be some or the other way to upgrade. Microsoft can't block yur upgrade if you have used these entities. Most likely upgrade would be possible but you will lose all the entities/ data etc. ( again considering the components are removed)

    5. Next version but can be changed.

    Hope this helps.
