Error when using the Correct/Cancel button on Posted Purchase Invoice

Posted on by 304

Hello,

I'm getting the error below when using the Correct/Cancel button on a Posted Purchase Invoice.

Direct Cost Applied Account must have a value in General Posting Setup

Why do I need to have a value in the Direct Cost Applied Account if I was able to post the original invoice with no issues? Is there a way to override this error?

Thanks

Alejandra

    Hi,

I tried to cancel the posted purchase invoice in the GB version and I was able to recreate your issue it seems it is bug.

Also I can see similar behavior in W1 version as well. But i was unable to recreate the same issue in US localization.

    Hi,

i tried to cancel the Posted Purchase Invoice with line type (Service Item). And I was able to credit out the Purchase Invoice without Direct Cost Account been setup in General Posting Setup.

Do you have any extension installed in your environment?

if yes Kindly uninstall the extension and then try to follow the same process.

Also can you tell me what is your BC localization and its version?

    Hi,

I did use an item (type = service) in the invoice line. These are the General Ledger Entries for my posted purchase invoice:

-231.00 going to the AP Control GL

38.50 going to VAT GL that has been defined in the VAT Posting Setup

192.50 going to P&L GL that has been defined in the General Posting Setup

so no Direct Cost app lines created.

I'm still getting the error message when trying to Correct/Cancel the posted purchase invoice.

    Hi ,

if you have line type as Item in Purchase Invoice and you have post the Purchase Invoice without direct cost applied account been set in General Posting Setup system won't allow you to post the Purchase Invoice. Same goes for the Credit Memo as well.

Can you check the GL entries which were hit when posted the purchase invoice?

If your accounts are hitting same as below accounts structure then there was direct cost account set up on general posting setup but it was removed and you have to add it again in order to credit out your Purchase Invoice.

    A/C Name A/C Type Dr/Cr
    Inventory A/C Balance Sheet Dr
Direct Cost App Profit & Loss Cr
Purchase A/C Profit & Loss Dr
    AP Balance Sheet Cr
