Why I can't see all publishers when creating solution

Hi,

We have recently imported a solution to a new CRM 365 environment.

The publisher of the solution is 'Default Publisher for EA' which I can see under 'Publishers' on Customizations.

The problem is when I tried to create new solution and want to select this publisher from Lookup on solution, can't see this publisher.

Below you can see I have 5 publishers

But when I clicked on lookup it is not showing all Publishers

Can someone help me to understand whats happening here.

Thanks

Bala

    This is what i have found by comparing 2 publisher in which one we can use to create solution and other we can not.

    Hi ,

    What type of solution you have imported , seems this is due to managed solution publisher you can not see this in the lookup.

    By default the Publisher Lookup View filters out any Publishers that have the isreadonly attribute set to 'true'. Publishers that are created through installing a managed solution will have isreadonly = 'true'.

    This behaviour does make sense, as it means that a publisher will either be linked to managed solutions or unmanaged solutions.

    Although you could (probably) workaround this by removing the filter on the Publisher Lookup View (note that isreadonly is not searchable, so doesn't show properly in the filter, but can (probably) be removed), I'd suggest you don't do this, and instead create a new Publisher for unmanaged solutions.

    Hi Bala,

    Is 'Default Publisher for EA' created by installing a managed solution?

    As in your screenshot, when you create a solution, the lookup popup for the publisher is filtered to a view named 'Publisher Lookup View'

    Using view designer in XrmToolBox, the view is filtered by Publisher not equal to MicrosoftCorporation and Isreadonly equal 0.

    What I noticed is all the publishers created in Dynamics by installing managed solutions have Isreadonly = 1, thus filtered out from selections through 'Publisher Lookup View'.

    Hi

    It will only display Publishers that are not Microsoft and that are not created by a managed solution

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/web-api/publisher?view=dynamics-ce-odata-9

    You can use the following query on XrmToolbox FetchXML builder to see if your publisher is marked as read only. if so, you cannot use that to create a new solution.

    https://xrmtoolbox.com

    ScreenClip-_5B00_286_5D00_.png

    <fetch version="1.0" output-format="xml-platform" mapping="logical" distinct="true" >
    <entity name="publisher" >
    <all-attributes/>
    </entity>
    </fetch>

    Hope this helps
