I am an Accountant seeking to familiarize myself with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. Does anyone know of any textbooks that provide tutorials on how to use its modules?

Also, I am interested in learning how to create service item types to be able to create Sales Orders and Invoices for customers. I am having a problem finding instructions that walk me through the process completely. That is, item setup, GL posting, etc.

Does anyone know of any valuable resources?

Hi,

If you want to use "Service" items you can create these as per below (search "Items" and click "New" to create a new item)

You can then pick these up on a Sales Quote/Order/Invoice. Below I've selected the item on a Sales Order:

The posting groups will then dictate the GL postings. For example the "Customer Posting Group" on the Customer dictates the Debtors Control (Accounts Receivable) and the combination of the Gen. Business Posting Group on the Customer and the Gen. Prod Posting Group on the Item will dictate the Sales/Income accounts. (there will be no Inventory or COGS postings for this as its a service item)

Gavin, from Nav Masters, LLC has a video in Youtube titled Business Central - Item Card and Inventory Overview.

I am looking for something similar except I want to create Item Cards for various services that can be used as Sales Quote, Sales Orders, and Sales Invoices.

Anyone know of anything that will guide me in this direction. And, of course I will need to map the GL Posting to the correct accounts.

I also have videos on Dimensions which are also an important aspect with regards analysis and GL postings.
