Automatic Timeout - Dynamics 365 On-prem

Hi folks,

We are facing an issue that our users get timeout after every 30 minutes automatically, I am mentioning the details below, please look into it, thanks in advance,

Dynamics 365 CRM on-prem version 8.2.1

I got this answer from our vendor

"The CRM team (the team that owns the CRM platform) informs us the timeout is set to 30 minutes and it is a global setting (all tenants) and cannot be changed.

this is related to our more modern CRM 365 configuration/setup, where CRM endpoints are protected by ADFS (Enterprise Federated Authentication service)"

Please confirm that is it true or we can change the session timeout from ADFS or any ways, thanks.

As far as I understand you are not administering your on-premise deployment of Dynamics. In such case you are not be able to do anything about it, only ADFS administrator (so it's your vendor I suppose) can change that

Thanks Pawel, that is correct I just need to know that it is changeable but my vendor told me its not changeable so I wanna confirm him that they can change it and there is nothing in Dynamics 365 on-prem you cant change, so as per you we can change the settings on ADFS side to increase the session timeout? thanks again for your reply.

Yes of course it can be changed, even the default value is bigger - for ADFS 2.0 for example it is 60 minutes:

And Pawel I am a Functional Consultant and our hosting is managed by a 3rd party vendor, thanks.

But the article is showing CRM 2011 and we are hosting D365 CRM on-prem, so do you think it would be the same in our condition or the same solution can work? thanks.

Yes, if you google it up for the latest ADFS you will find plenty of articles about this. Of course this is technically possible in general, maybe there are some environment specific things which can make that impossible, I believe that if vendor told you that this is not possible, there must be a reason for that (other that it's ADFS) maybe they just did not share it with you.
