Issue: Personalization Page Hangs in Dynamics 365 Business Central (Production and Sandbox)

Hello Dynamics 365 Community,

I'm facing an issue in Dynamics 365 Business Central where the Personalize feature hangs indefinitely in both production and sandbox environments. When I click Settings > Personalize (or use the gear icon), the page freezes, and no personalization options load. This happens across multiple pages.

Details:

  • Environment: Dynamics 365 Business Central (cloud), [insert version if known, e.g., 2024 Wave 2, or check via Settings > About].

  • Environments Affected: Both production and sandbox.

  • Browser: [e.g., Chrome 129, Edge 128], same issue in incognito mode.

  • Users Affected: [Specify if it's just you or multiple users].

  • Error Messages: No specific error; the page just hangs.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone encountered this issue with the Personalize feature hanging?

  2. Are there additional troubleshooting steps I can try (e.g., checking specific profile settings or telemetry)?

  3. Could this be related to a recent BC update or a known bug?

  4. Any suggestions before escalating to Microsoft Support?

    This is a known issue on which Microsoft is working and resolved for few regions. 
     
    There is no fixed date for any particular region however it may resolved in next few days. 
     
    Still, I would suggest to raise MS ticket to make it formal.

    Many users across different regions are experiencing this issue. Microsoft has already resolved it for some regions and is rolling out the fix on a region-by-region, tenant-by-tenant basis. Please be patient, it should be resolved for you soon.

    Hi, As far as I know, this issue occurred on the 18th (Japan time) and was resolved by the 26th.
    If some environments haven't been resolved yet, they may not have been updated yet. Please wait a little longer.

    The Personalize feature hanging across both production and sandbox environments is a known issue that’s surfaced intermittently, especially after major updates or role center changes. It’s frustrating, and you’re not alone in encountering it.

    Here’s a clean path forward:

    First, confirm whether the issue is tied to a specific role center or profile. Some pages may be blocked or locked from personalization due to role-based tailoring or legacy personalization conflicts. Try switching to a different role center (e.g., Business Manager or Accountant) and test the Personalize feature again.

    If the page still hangs:

    • Clear browser cache and test in incognito mode (which you’ve already done, good step).
    • Check if any extensions or customizations are interfering with the personalization layer.
    • Review telemetry logs via the Admin Center or Application Insights if enabled, look for UI freeze or timeout events.
    • If you’ve personalized the page using an older version of BC or the NAV client, the system may be unable to reconcile the layout. In this case, unlocking the page may help, but it will reset your layout.
       

    If the issue persists across roles and browsers, it’s likely tied to a recent update or a corrupted personalization state. You can escalate to Microsoft Support with the following:

    • Environment ID
    • User ID(s) affected
    • Browser version
    • Screenshot or screen recording of the hang
    • Timestamp of last attempt
