Copying Sandbox Environment (Incl Data) to production environment - CRM online 2013

Hi

I always thought that the idea behind a sandbox environment was so you could make changes and then publish to your production instance easily and quickly.

This doesn't seem possible in CRM online 2013 - is there any quick way to move solution, and data to the production instance?

We have just done a lot of work to get all our data from 2011 on premise to online 2013 sandbox and really don't want to have to do that again

Customizations can be applied by exporting the default solution from sandbox to production.

Data is more complicated. there is no copy button from sandbox to prod.

    few ideas:

    Data imports (long task)

Instance adapter: (I think its for partners only)

    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

you can ask if Microsoft can back it up and import for you. I'm sure that is impossible across different 365 domain accounts but could be possible from sandbox to prod. if it is possible will depend on their schedule

    Hello Cazzajm,

In CRM Online, you can have sandbox instances to try aut your customizations and custom code. Once it's tested and working, you can simply export them as solutions and apply them to the live environment.

In case you wish to move actual data, your option is the Instance Adaptor. You can use it to move the data between the sandbox and production instance.

    Hi Magor,

Is it possible to provide us with links to the Instance Adaptor and, I guess, to the Connector for Dynamics? The links on the MS downloads site seem to be broken.

    Hello Vassil,

I have the same links myself. I've just tested them and they worked for me. In case you have issues with it, I'd suggest clearing the cache or trying another browser.

Let me know if you still have difficulties.

    Hi Magor,

I didn't manage to download any executables (Connector for Dynamics or Instance Adapter) using three different browsers, also via CustomerSource.

I have tried www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx with no luck which is the only link which I was able to find digging in search engines or TechNet.

Hope you can help. We need to evaluate if it's feasible for us to transport data from sandbox to production.
