When posting entries, we have a column for specific dimension value code called ' department number ' . We have about 20 different department numbers.

Is there a way to check ALL entries for a specific department number?

You can open the 'General Ledger Entries' Page, and then add a filter for the Department dimension.

Hi, If this is not Global Dimensions or Shortcut Dimensions, you can add a filter using the following method.

Or consider adding fields to the page.

By setting filter on the general ledger entries, you can see all the entries for a specific department number. You can follow the approach suggested by ZHU and Valentine.
