Setting a value for Owner on PreCreate

(0) ShareShare

Our developers are unable to assign a record to a team by setting a value for the owner through pre-create or pre-update. The plugin fires and sets the owner value (in this case a team), but the user who belongs to the team is unable to see the record. The assignment doesn't seem to work.

I remember this was an issue sometime ago with CRM 2011. Does anybody know if this is a known issue with CRM 2013 SP1.

Nope, UR1 hasnt been installed yet.

    Thanks Guido.

This is the Create operation where I think a new value for the OwnerID is changed and set to the Pre-Image. Doesn't seem to working. Weird!

    Hello,

I get the same issue, very strange.

On the pre-create message, I changed the ownerid in the target.

The ownerid is well modified, I can see it throught the CRM website. (admin advanced find)

But the users couldn't see anything.

So, i changed for a test the reading right to "Organization" and after this the users could see their activities (the ones, I modified) but couldn't make any modifications...

I looked in the SQL server, in "activitypointerbase", you can see that the "owningbusinessunit" has not been modified when we changed the ownerid.

    I think it's a "Microsoft CRM bug".

I didn't have so much time to look in details so I divided my plugin into 2.

    1 pre-create with fields modifications

and the second one, post-ope with an assign request.

But I'm pretty sure that you could change manually the "owningbussinessunit" of your entity with the "businessunitId" of your owner (user).

    Hi Karthik,

Assign operation is required to assign an owner. Please see below link. Microsoft is going to remove this assign request in future release I think to make all as update.
