I have an issue where we have a RTF control and we get the response that "You have exceeded the maximum number of 4000 characters in this field"

I have deleted all the text and then added content, but still get the same issue. There error is appearing at between 40 and 41 characters and then does not clear until all data is removed from the field.

I have a number of RTF fields in the form and the issue appears from sporadically across most of them.

OK, good step forward. Where has this field been added? I assume it's a custom field, so where exactly does it live?

The field (and other similar fields) is in a Custom Entity/Table...

I have altered the field to be multiple lines of text and then extended the length to 10,000, but still comes back as

You have exceeded the maximum number of 4000 characters in this field

The following article explains how to fix a similar issue for Pen Control:

Error – You have exceeded the maximum number of 2000 characters in this field while using Pen Control in Dynamics 365 – Nishant Rana's Weblog

Basically, try increasing the length to the maximum as explained in the article.

Thanks for this. I have pushed out to 1,000,000 and will run some tests to see how this pans out. Will report back after testing.

That would be great, especially since the MS doc Wahaj referenced is filed under PA Portals. So if the effect extends beyond just portals, it would be good to have that documented here for other people as well.

The essence of this is correct...however, when running testing, we still had issues, but my increasing to 1,000,000 we created greater room for error.
