Workflow to lookup of records

Object: Create a workflow that will trigger when a status of a record in Entity A changes to "Complete" and will do the following.

Look up all records for field A in Entity A and see if the value already exists. If so the workflow would stop. If not the workflow should send an email.

I am having trouble with the lookup portion of this request. Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Jennifer,

    I presume that when you say " Look up all records for field A in Entity A" you mean a specific entity that has related records to that parent record? If so theen reason you are having trouble with the lookup portion is because there is no built-in recursive lookup in the Workflow engine to do what you are looking to accomplish. You will need a custom workflow to accomplish it or do it entirely with a plugin. Which the latter is the better way to accomplish it.
