Suitability for Time and Materials based businesses

Hi all, We are currently trying to design a solution for our multiple businesses which include both typical " production" of discrete items and others which are "time and materials" for servicing heavy machinery. The time and materials business has high volumes of non - inventory items purchased and hundreds of labour entries per work order. We are finding it challenging to find  a module for the time and materials business that will support a quote to invoice end to end process that also integrates with time and attendance and how to easily identify segments or separate parts of the job to allow easy user visibility.

Appreciate any feedback thank you.

    Hi Graham,

Use Project management and accounting to plan, create, manage, control and complete projects for your organization. Customer-focused projects can be set up on a time and materials or fixed-price basis. You can also use the module to manage costs for internal and investment projects.learn.microsoft.com/.../overview-project-management-accounting

    Hi Graham,

Judy said it. Project Management and Accounting is the module.  Often used for "Engineer to Order" production process, where large equipment are built to spec.  You have Project Quotations, Project Sales Orders, Project Invoices, you can purchase directly to a Project and have all the cost rolled up under the project. You can have multiple level of projects, where a parent project has several sub-projects.   In any case, to use Asset Management or Service Management modules in D365, you need to use some minimal level of Project Management and Accounting.

Thanks Judy, its starting to come together now. I was not aware of the full functionality of WBS and Boms so we can now see some options.
