Stock Count Entry

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi.

We’ve got an odd behavior with the Stock Count Entry window for a particular Stock Count ID. When bringing up ID 351 all the controls are greyed out and we can’t do anything with the window but close it or select another site using the lookup button. Here’s a screenshot.

Typically all the controls are enabled on this window and we’ll see a list of inventory.

The Stock Count ID in question is not new but has been used three times in the past. I can see data for it in the IV10300, IV30700, IV10301 and IV30701 tables and as far as I can tell there’s nothing that stands out as being notably different than other IDs.

Any ideas on what we might be missing?

    RE: Stock Count Entry

    Hi WennSoft!

    I have been doing a little digging though our internal databases in which I have found that RSSTCKCNT is usually set as a 1 as Mahmoud had mentioned I was unable to locate what the status values for this one. However, In the IV10300 the STCKCNTSTTS field stores

    1 = Available

    2 = Started

    3 = Entered

    A 0 for STCKCNTSTTS is not a valid value for this column so this would point to as what Mahmoud said in which this Stock count appears to be corrupted.

    Hope this helps!

    Bummer -

    I was hoping we could kill a few birds with the same stone.

    Did you give Mahmoud's suggestion of changing the Stock Count status in SQL a try?

    No these are all issues from different customers that I'm working on.

    I am wondering if the constellation of errors WennSoft reportered today are all related to copying a company and the various setting that should be updated, which are not contained in the company database.

    These two fields are

    • STCKCNSTTS : Stock count status
    • RSSTCKCNT: Reuse stock count

    Stock count status usually changes from started, entered or available, I would test changing it to (1) to be available. Additionally, the reuse stock count would have a value of either (1,0) which is true and false, I would set it to one.

    Before trying these updates on a test company, I might hit the check links as a the last try, it might check records integrity. If it didn't work out, you may proceed with the update.

    Finally, if it never got fixed. Just create a new one and get this one deleted from the database level.

    Let me know if you have any further concerns,

    RE: Stock Count Entry

    So I ran the profiler and tried to bring up the Stock Count Entry for 351. There were no errors reported and with the exception of not seeing a ton of entries related to loading the detail lines into the window it looked very much the same as loading another ID into the entry window.

    I see in the IV10300 table that the field RSSTCKCNT is set to 1 for all other stock IDs except this one (351) and one other. I also note that STCKCNSTTS field is typically set to 1 or 2 for all other IDs except for these same two which are 0. Do you know what the stock count status values mean? I think that in the test company I might just set the RSSTCKCNT to 1 for ID 351 and see what happens.

    I think though that whoever counted the stock last year failed to check the Reuse Stock Count box and it seems that’s the main trouble.

    Apparently, there are corrupted records on the database in IV10300 and IV10301 ... Although the data is there, but there could be some corrupted field or Indices.

    Do you have SQL knowledge ? If So, I would run an SQL profiler just before picking up the Stock Count ID from the lookup . It would give us a hint on what's going on

    I have tested few changes, changing the status and reuse stock index and none of them affected the line items showing in the grid. In case the "Reuse Stock Count" was not checked, everything becomes disables after the stock count is completed. although, I find no proper justification for the items missing on the grid.

    Let me know how it goes with the profiler,
