I have one PC at a client where the user launches GP, navigates to the Sales page and sees all the options for Sales Order processing. Under registration, I've disabable this module. Same goes for the Purchasing window - she can see everything even though POP is disabled. The only security role assined to her is the AR Clerk role. She can even see and launch all the payables transactions (trx entry, edit check batch etc).
If she logs out and back in a few times it eventually reverts back to what is expected.
I've run file maintenance on the security tables but suspect the problem is specific to her PC (temp files or IE). has anyone seen this one before?

No such folders exist on the domain and their IT dept confirmed that they would only be local to teh PC. We're planning to delete the GP users and create a new one for this person though I still think the problem is somewhere on PC.
Check on the domain controller! Not the workstation.
I'm looking at it now - I see a folder named: C:\Documents and Settings\####\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer where #### is the username. No UserData directory there. I created one which means she has rights to the folder.
The problem comes up in the mornings when she boots up and starts GP for the first time. I'll give an update in the morning.
Great - I'll check the PC in a bit and let you know what I find.
I found my notes. Check this and see what you find:
When Great Plains is run, it looks for an xml preference file that should be stored in "%appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\UserData". When the minimize/maximize button is clicked, it then executes a portion of JavaScript that stores those "preferences" (minimized or maximized) to the oXMLBranch[1].xml file. If this folder (UserData) doesn't exist however, the program then can't read or write user's preferences to this file, and it also doesn't create the folder on its own.
If this file exists but has been locked down, it could be your problem. However. we got error messages on this in the past.
Does GP (or the system) display any error messages after the user logs in but before the desktop is drawn? If so, please give me the details of the messages.
No terminal server here. However, IT does lock down the XP machines here so maybe something is still out there or there's a directory she doesn't have proper rights to.
Is this user running over a Terminal Server? If so, there is a directory on the server for each user that holds the layout of the desktop when the user last logs out. It needs full read/write writes or it will never save the changes. So, if the user HAD at one time rights to these features, the directory was created, and then the rights limited, they may be seeing an old desktop layout with the forbidden functions. I have been trying to find my notes on this to give you the exact folder name but it will be in the temp folder and will have the userid as part of the path.
