Lead To Opportunity Process

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello -

When qualifying a lead, I'd like to be able to transfer any notes attached to the lead object over to the contact object (albeit a new contact or an existing contact). I'm having trouble finding the inners of this process, so I'm a bit stuck. Is something like this possible in Dynamics 365?

Also I'd like to set the default "Lead to Opportunity Sales Process" to a custom process of my own. I understand that I can edit the existing process, but I'd prefer to keep that one as is and simply make my own (from a copy of the original), then set it as the default. I'm unable to figure out where I can set which process is the default Opportunity Process. I appreciate any help! Thanks!

For the notes part, you will likely need to develop a plugin (or a workflow with a custom activity) to either re-parent existing notes or to create copies of those notes when a contact is created. There is nothing out of the box you can use for that.

    RE: Lead To Opportunity Process

For the Default Process Question; I'll need to make two processes. One for newly created Opportunities, and another (identical) Process for Opportunities created from Leads. Then I can set the "Order Process Flow" to set precedence on the multiple Process'.

While I find that to be redundant, I'll accept the duplicated work. My first question still remains open though. Thanks!
