Hi All,
I've turned on the model-driven app in-app notifications feature (Model-driven app adds in-app notifications - Power Platform Release Plan | Microsoft Docs) and noticed that it's only working properly for me with the System Administrator security role.
According to the MS documentation, it's only enabled for "Users by admins, makers, or analysts", but is there any way to make it available for general users? I provided privileges to the 'Notification' entity to one of our general user security roles, and the user can then see the Notification icon in the top right of the page, but no notification toasts appear and the notification panel doesn't load (see below)
Does anyone know if there are any other privileges that should be provided for this to work properly for normal users?
Hi CamParker
I had the same issue. I found the solution in the MS article below.
Please, use this this to get your notifications worked:
Hi MoMo, I havent had a chance to check again, but will try to in the next few days and report back
Hi,
Did you find a solution to this issue? I have enabled all settings but still, other users are not receiving Notifications.
Please share with me if you have resolved this issue
I'm back!
The in-app notifications are in the normal features area now, so I turned it on, and setup the security role again but am still facing the same issue
Anyone got any more ideas?
Unfortunately I still can't get it to work - the loading notification panel persists, and even after providing all access to the 'Model-driven app User Setting I can't change the TOAST settings still.
The user can see the notification table (viewable through Advanced Find) but the panel wont load properly.
I noted in Adrian Oath's post, that the GA release is pretty recent so it may be not fully implemented for the D365 release that we're running on. Maybe I just need to wait a while for it to become properly available.....
Thanks for your feedback. I think microsoft could have automated these changes..but hey we are here to help each other thanks to this forum, have a good one.
Hi meelamri
Blog post is perfect. Updating the Setting entity did the trick. I'd seen that show up in dev tools but couldn't locate the entity.
Thanks!
It is also necessary to handle personal settings related to the notifications. I have detailed the steps to follow on this blog: xrmtricks.com/.../
Hi CamParker,
You need to add the read privilege for the following two tables to your security role:
- Notification
- Model-Driven App User Setting
Both tables are available in the Custom Entities tab. You can refer to the image below:
Let us know if it works for you, thanks.
Yes, notifications work for system admins, but not other roles.
