The sa password was changed and now we don't have access to the company in mangement reporter

Our sa password was changed and now users cannot use management reporter. I am setup as an administrator, but when I co into companies through the Report Designer, credentials are grayed out. Also the DBA tried to login to the Configuration Console, and he could no see any companies.

How do we resolve this. Where can we change the password for the sa account that was stored in Management Reporter? Who can change it, and how do they need to be logged in in order to change it?

The 'sa' password is controlled in SSMS. Go into SSMS and change the password there.

The problem is that it was changed in SSMS to something other than the origiinal sa poassword that was used to setup Management Reporter. I can see that management reporter is storing an encrypted password in the Company table. I need Management Reporter to use the new SQL password. not the old. How do I change what Management Reporter uses?

In this case go into SSMS using Windows credentials. Try to use the Administrator account. Hopefully that account has the right necessary to change the 'sa' password. Is the person who installed SQL there? You will need get into SQL who is a SQL sysdamin.

You'll need to start the MR Configuration Console as a user that has the Administrator role in MR.  Once you are in the console, click the integration.  On the right side, click the link 'Update Dynamics GP credentials.'  You may also need to click the 'Update data mart credentials' and update the sa user password there.

What if you can't open the MR Configuration Console, though?  That's the problem that I have run into.  It's a Catch-22.

I have faced this issue in the past and the reason being MR Process Service stopped working for some reason. I could not get that working at all.

Had to uninstall and reinstall MR, however connect to existing database instead of doing everything from the scratch.

Why MR Process Service stopped was beyond my knowledge, in all honesty.

Can you get into Designer? If so, I would export the building blocks and then go to your server and delete the MR database plus uninstall MR and then start over with a fresh installation this time using accounts that you control and that have sufficient rights in the domain and in SQL. Once MR is back up and running import those building blocks and you should be back where you started.

Can't get into Designer either, Richard.

Do you have the ability to get onto the server upon which MR is installed and see if the two MR services are running? My guess would be they are not which means in addition to the 'sa' password changing they also changed the password on whatever service account runs the MR services. You need to get a hold of IT and have them check those services and get them running first. Then explain to them that you want a separate service account created within your domain that will be used to run the MR services. You will need to add this account to SQL as a sysadmin and then you can export the building blocks, remove the MR database, then install MR again using this new account and then import the building blocks. Do you have a partner who can assist with all of this? I know this is not a trivial task you have been handed and it would be best to work with your partner.
