Error: The requested operation is not supported. - on rename of vendor

I deployed a new version of an extension at at customer and suddenly they get this error when trying to rename a vendor:

We have not deployed any changes to the vendor table or any tables that links to the vendor tables. No new eventsubscribers that have anything at all to do with the vendors. I tried to debug it, but the debugger just exits between OnRename and OnAfterRename triggers - not on any code.

I can find this in the event viewer - it seems to have been caused by the rename - but don't know what to make about it.

Any ideas on what could have caused this error will be appreciated.

Have you installed any apps? If an app has added this restriction and has its ShowMyCode = False you will never see it via the debugger...

Good thinking. Unfortunately not any new apps - only the extension I have created. And it has ShowMyCode=True.
