Could it be, that there was some ledger entry for this item, before it was changed to Type = Service? I think system doesn't allow this change, if there are any ledger entries, but could be someone has forced this via table or configuration package.
in that case, You would need to switch it back to Inventory, then post a negative adjustment with Quantity 1, and then switch it back to Type=Service (or best of all, create a new card, and You can rename existing to a different number).

first of all, I guess this is an item set up as service. Service items refer to something different in the service module in BC. if the item got transactions, BC won't allow user to delete it. You could check if incorrect transactions exist so you could reverse those. Then block it.
