Cycle count work created from Work Exception (short pick) - requires count of all items in location

I am using Work Exceptions to automatically create cycle counting work whenever a user short picks a sales line. The cycle count work that is created has lines for ALL items in the location. Is there a way to configure the system to only create cycle count work for the item that was short picked opposed to all items in the location?

Example

Location A1B1 has the items and quantities below

ITEM A - 5 ea

ITEM B - 10 ea

ITEM C - 20 ea

A warehouse user is directed to Location A1B1 to pick 10 ea of ITEM A, the user must short pick and picks the 5 available. Cycle count work is created for location A1B1.

A different warehouse user goes to complete the cycle count, they are required to count ITEM A, ITEM B and ITEM C.

Is there a way to configure the cycle count work to only create a count line for ITEM A ?

Thanks for the response. The article referenced show how to configure cycle count work that is created via a Cycle Count Plan. It does not show how to configure cycle count work that is created from a Work Exception.

    Hello Nick,
Did you find a way to configure cycle count work for only the item short picked?
Or a work-around that got close?
    We have the same scenario
