FRx removes backslash on sysdata path.

We are trying to get FRx working on a Windows 7 64-bit workstation, which we have done numerous times in the past, but we are running into the following issue.

With FRx, SP9 and SP12 installed.

Report Designer crashes when we attempt to update the sysdata directory inside FRx.

We then update the FRX32.CFG file to the correct UNC path \\server\greatplains\frx\sysdata\ <-- with the backslash on the end.

Launch Report Designer, recieve the error "The specification set template file (frxrpt32.tpl) is missing from the SysData directory. The file is needed to run FRx." which KB article 966818 says is caused by the backslash missing from the end of the sysdata directory path.

Go edit the FRX32.CFG file again and the backslash is indeed missing.  Add the \ back, save and close, re-launch Report Designer, same exact error.

Go back to FRX32.CFG and the backslash is missing again.

Something server side when FRx looks to the path we initially put in, is changing the path and removing the \ hence causing the error.

I have tried on two separate workstation and I get the exact same results.

Any help is appreciated,

Zak

As an update, I tried on a 32-bit windows 7 machine this morning, and I get the same exact problem.  Something is automatically changing that line in the FRX32.CFG.

On newer service packs 8 or 9+ you no longer edit frx32.cfg, you edit FRxConfig.xml which is usually located here:

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\FRx Software\FRx 6.7

You will also want to check the System.cfg file in the SysData directory as there can be a MOVETO= line that alters this path.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply!  Indeed it was the path in System.cfg.
