Workflows in D365BC

hi,

currently i work with the workflow module, do some testing. it's quite interesting, but never had a client who used/wanted that.

what are typical scenarios for the workflow module at customers?

what i know is the purchase invoice workflow.

afaik approval roles are often needed in workflows, but in the nav standard workflow there are only the users available for the approval process. is the usage of approval roles possible in nav or are there any 3party addons to achieve that?

is there a workflow designer available?

    Almas,

In the search box enter Workflow Template. You will see every workflow BC has out-of-the-box. Click the double down-arrow to expand the entire page and see specific workflows by document/action.

Hi Tanya, is there any documented list available for naming range of workflows available in BC like you mention in your reply, customer credit limit, customer/vendor approval, purchase quote, sales invoice etc.

    Archer,

The workflows I have used are either customer credit limit, customer/vendor approval, purchase quote and sales invoice.  I have had them as simple as one approver and as complex as routing to multiple approvers (approval groups) based on dimension and amounts.  This can all be accomplished using the standard workflows in BC.  There really isn't a designer per say just templates that make it pretty easy to setup workflow as long as you understand the conditions.

I am happy to help.  Have a great day.

    Hello Franz,

who else should approve somethin than a User? You can select different approval roles (Approver or Sales Person e.g.) or even worklfow user groups.

We have a lot of custmers using the standard workflows in BC, for example approval of sales quotes or purchase orders.

If you really want to go deep into approvals check out Microsoft Power Automate (formerly known as Flow). You can create workflows thorugh the entire Microsoft product range.

    Regards

    Erik
