Duplicate reports in managed solution

Every time I publish a managed solution, the list of custom reports duplicates. I currently have 3 versions of the same report for each report in my managed solution.

Is there a way to prevent re-creating the existing reports in the managed solution deployment?

We have the exact same problem and also need a solution. Anyone else experiencing this?

I had the exact same problem in CRM 2011, so I imagine this bug wasn't resolved.

Considering this is a long existing issue, I'd go for the ad-hoc solution, which is making a separate solution for the reports and using exporting it as unmanaged. There is no real reason in using the managed solution for reports since it does not add any significant functionalities.

Thanks. How have you integrated the primary application's sitemap with the unmanaged reports-only solution?

If I understood it correctly, your "main" solution has sitemap customizations to show the reports entity, right? You can keep that in the other solution because it will show what the view is customized. I didn't have to deal with that since this customer in particular didn't have sitemap customizations.

    Hello,

Thanks for replying and your suggestions. We discovered two things that have helped us resolve the issue. When a report is created, it has a unique GUID associated with the report. Deleting and adding a new version of the report creates a new GUID, which when exported gets added as a duplicate. Reports should just be updated, not deleted, to avoid this situation. When updating the report, we just browse for the new version and save the changes. This retains the reports GUID and it gets updated - not duplicated.

That is part one of the problem. The second part is how do we get rid of the duplicates in a managed solution? We did so by importing a slightly modified version of the same solution. The modification is just a change to the solutions unique name. We called it project-holding or something similar. Then when that solution is installed, we removed the solution with the duplicated reports. The data has been retained because of the holding solution. The duplicated reports were then orphaned and subsequently removed. We then loaded the new version of our solution, deleted the holding solution and we were all set.

Hopefully, this will help someone that had a similar issue.

    Thanks,

    Hany
