Is a VAR required by Microsoft?

We have had VARs in the past and we've purchased the annual maintenance plans from them but we currently do not have a VAR.  We are on GP9 and might not upgrade for another year (we know it's no longer supported) and we will most likely perform the upgrade in-house.   Would we be able to purchase the annual maintenance plans straight through Microsoft or is a VAR required?  We've been able to research most of our questions/issues online so what other reasons are there to have a VAR?

You simply cannot place orders with Microsoft Directly; all purchases must be done through Value Added Resellers (VARs).

Your account will definitely be linked to a VAR and most probably it will be the last VAR you worked with.

Moahmmad is right GPINC,  You have to purchase through a VAR. That's Microsoft's distribution model.  If you need any further advice, let me know.  IntellPartners would be glad to help any way we can.

    Best regards,
