Is there a way to create Alternate Routings?

I am wondering if there is a way to Create/Select an Alternate Routing when creating a Work Order for an Item.  I come from background working with Oracle and am still fairly new to using Business Central.  In Oracle, you can create a Master Routing that is attached to a Master Item.  However if you can run a part through a alternative process (i.e. assembly by hand instead of on machine), you could create a 2nd Master Routing and give it an "Alternate" tag via a dropdown box.  That way when you create a new Work Order for an Item, you had a drop down box for Alternate Routing.  Leave it alone, the Master Routing was chosen, or select "Alternate" in the drop down and you could use the Alternate Routing instead (the same was possible for Alternate BOMs as well).

However I have not been able to find an option to create an Alternate Routing like this in Business Central.  Can anyone possible help me in this process?  Or is this something not doable in Business Central?

    Hello,

On my phone so hard to write a lot of detail but I think I can help here.

Create the alternative routing (so you could have low qty route 1, high qty route 2 as it may go through different work centres depending on volume)

On the production order make sure the routing column on the line is visable (you may need to add this via personalisation)

You can then select the routing required when creating the order.

    This is the manual way.

If you are doing this often and are running MRP you may want to talk with your partner to automate this.

Here is a very useful blog by olaf smirten who is extremely good at explaining things it is for navision but still applies to business central.
