How to configure Data Exchange Definition to read date 03-14-2023 from original text 3142023 ???

So my original file looks like this...

I have tried setting the date as text and adding a 0 padding, then added Transformation rule with the date format MMddyyy but it's still not converting 3142023 to 03-14-2023.

What am I missing here?
