Custom Report not printing GP10

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 295

I have customized a report (SOP Blank Invoice Form) but the custom version does not print.

Even printing from within Report Writer with the custom report selected, results in the standard form.

For the application, I have setup the Alternate/Modified Forms Reports ID and selected the custom custom report.  I did this for the DEFAULTUSER ID and I also created a new ID and selected the custom report here as well.

Then I went to user security for the correct Company and confirmed that the users where assigned to the DEFAULTUSER as the Alternate/Modified Forms Reports ID.  But the standard report still printed.

Then I went to user security for the correct Company and changed the Alternate/Modified Forms Reports ID to the new one I created for the users.  But the standard report still printed.

I could understand bad setup preventing the custom report from printing within the application (although I think I did everything) but it makes no sense why the custom report does not print from with the report writer where I am selecting it.

Any ideas?

I really hate when I type a long response, click submit and it just disappears.  So sorry, you now get the short version.

In that report, make sure you are editing the proper header section. This happened to me on a POP report once.  Have you made major changes to the whole report or just added a logo to the top?  Because I was in a similar situation where I was adding the information to the wrong header section in the report.  So when I printed it, I coudln't see my changes, but I was getting the modified report.  It was frustrating.

There are two sections that look like the header but one is the Page header and one is the report Header.  If you are making changes to the top section thinking that it looks like the right section (which is logical), try editing the Report section that looks like a header but is down on the report a little.  I believe the top part is the Page header that only prints on page 2 and beyond (in case you have that many line items).  The other header section is the Report header and prints on the first page.  Make some changes to that one and then see if you get the results you expect.

That was it.  Was making a simple change (moving a lable) just see that i could make a change and have it work.  Of course my test invoice has 1 line so only 1 page so the pager header section never printed.  Only the Report Header section printed and I never touched it.

Showing the Page Header seciton before the Report Header in the editor is prettly silly.

Thanks so much for this tip.
