Well.. the description on that msdn forum looks exactly like yours:

"So I downloaded a report, a .rdl, from Report Manager Portal. I added it into a project successfully within Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2015, Version 14.0.25431.01 Update 3, and  SQL Server Data Tools 14.0.61707.300 and SQL Server Reporting Services 14.0.806.134. However, when I go and try and save my Microsoft Visual Studio Project, I get an ugly error window that pops up and says..."

    What's the difference then?

Thank you Alex Shlega for your response but I think this is also not relevant to my issue.

I think they meant there that they first had to open that report in VS2012, then saved, then were finally able to use it with 2015.
