How do we update the JavaScript frameworks and JavaScript libraries in BC 14 Web client?

We prepare for the implementation of automation testing for our project running on Version: Platform 14.0.50094.0 + Application 46103 (CH Business Central 14.21),I've conducted an extensive analysis of potential technological bottlenecks. Additionally, I've considered the compatibility with our existing technology stack, which includes:
JavaScript frameworks: RequireJS 2.3.5
Web frameworks: Microsoft ASP.NET
Web servers: IIS 10.0
JavaScript libraries: MobX, jQuery UI 1.11.4, jQuery 2.1.0

Is it possible to implement automation testing on this above version? as i figured the Reactjs libraries are out of date as of today. IS it possible to update the libraries without Migrating the BC14 version?

Any inputs will be great. Cheers!

    Hi,

It is not possible to update JavaScript frameworks or libraries in Business Central 14 Web Client without migrating to a newer version. The web client uses a fixed set of libraries embedded in the platform, and these are not designed to be replaced or upgraded independently. Any attempt to modify them would break the application and is unsupported by Microsoft.

Automation testing is possible on BC14, but it is limited to AL-based test codeunits and the Test Toolkit provided by Microsoft. UI automation using modern frameworks like React or Selenium will face compatibility issues because BC14 uses older technologies such as jQuery and RequireJS. To use modern JavaScript frameworks or integrate advanced automation tools, you need to upgrade to a later version of Business Central where the web client architecture supports these technologies.

    Thanks

    Hi Rishabh,

This query was raised in May 2024 and it's safe to assume that query poster is not following this thread now as already good amount of time has been passed. By replying these queries, they starts flowing into the latest feed and other experts also starts replying on it. As per my humble opinion, we should avoid it.
