Hi
I am beginner in CRM. I don't know where to post to get such details. So, I have posted here.
I have tried with trial Dynamics 365 account to develop functionality. I want to start with basic licensing of CRM. I have contacted with Microsoft but they have suggested me long process with bit larger amount.
I just want to start with learning so I want basic license even with limited functionality.
Is there any such license for CRM Online or any other way? Please suggest

To the Dynamics 365 product team: Would you please consider making a developer license available for Dynamics 365. There is a huge market for integration+interoperability which will ultimately drive user adoption. The only barrier is availability of a free version for developers like myself who are not interesting in using CRM as an end-user but are interested in creating extensions & integrations with it. Setting up a time limited trial is only beneficial for trying CRM features, and is not a sustainable option for development.
Hi,
I think this is mostly covered here, but I would believe that your best bet is using Trial Versions of Dynamics 365 Online.
The Team Member License is just limited functionality that will not allow you to really learn how to do actions in the environment.
Regarding your licensing model that you are looking for, that is really up to your requirements.
Do the end clients need access to more than what is given to them with the Team Member license? Does your solution require using CRM features that are part Sales or Service? If so, that is your answer. You will need more than just the Team Member basic licenses. Note that there is also an administrative user that can be used for managing your CRM environment, but not for making any changes to data or records. An Administrative user does not consume license, but has some limitations.
If you are planning to use this for only database, why not use Azure SQL DB as suggested, or you can try using CRM with only Team Member licenses.
Hope this helps.
Hi Newdeveloper,
If you are intending to only use CRM as a backend, then I would suggest you go for a Azure DB. You will have an opportunity to customize the schema as per your business needs and PowerApps (front end) can connect to DB busing Microsoft Flow.
Please mark my response as answer if it helped you.

Hi,
as far as I know no "develop" license exists for Dynamics 365.
I mean that you cannot have a Dynamics organization available only for develop purpose paying a little fee but if you already have a Dynamics environment you can assign a "develop" license to the users.
However if you aim to create a powerapps application that get data from an existing Dynamics 365 organization you may try to use Flow to move the data in the common data service.
If you want to test powerapps you can split your solution in two different problems:
You can assume that in some way Dynamics data will be uploaded into the Common Data Service (you doesn't have Dynamics so you can upload data via Excel)
Then you can develop your app using the Common Data Layer
Obviously this is a workaround but maybe it is enough to learn what you need.
Take a look to this docs.microsoft.com/.../data-platform-export-data
If you can provide more details maybe I can help you more.

Giorgio
Hi Martin, Actually I want to develop web based (the program data will be come from Dynamics 365) application via powerapp. This application serves for small companies, what must be our licensing model? Most probably that companies will not want pay 40 usd for each user. is light user enough to use a web application, or a common full user ( every user will use same password etc)
what must be our road map?? is it possible to develop like a program?
If you want to start out cheap, you can create trials that are valid for 30 days and go from there. It will give teach you good development practices as you need to move your solutions regularly.
If you are serious about development and want to spend money, I think there are two options:
- Get your own environment and pay for it. I don't think there's a special dev option. I would love to have the same option you have with Office365 where you get a full featured dev tenant that's limited to one user and it's free for the first year. But for CRM this options isn't available.
- Invest in a MSDN subscription, and specifically one which has Dynamics CRM developer keys / licenses. One downside is that you will be always using an onpremises version of CRM.
