ReportReport

Dear all,

I need to know how to allow normal GP user to view the GP User Activity window and disable the delete button option. Does this possible to be done? If yes, can anyone let me know how? But if no, it's okay and i will inform my customer regarding this.

 Thank you.

It sounds like you're looking to simply see a list of the users logged in. You could do this with a customization, but a better approach might be to create a custom report (either in SmartList or some other reporting tool) to show the information needed.

Victoria, the custom report in smart list is a far better idea than trying to customize the screen simply to 'see who' is connected.

I will use this idea, as I have had the request from others to 'show me how' is connected and then to get shot down when we determine that they then have to much access.

    Thanks for this idea.

    Bill,

Yep, that's a popular request. I even have a view for this: victoriayudin.com/.../sql-view-for-user-activity-in-dynamics-gp.

Excellent - with a few more minutes I will then create a quick Excel link to the view and allow the users to simply open the excel sheet - always refreshing the data - and there it is - the 'who is logged in report'

Well done - thanks so much for a solution that 1/2 hour ago I did not know I was looking for.  Great days should all be this great.

    Thanks.

    Thank you for your reply.

I will discuss with my team regarding this but Bill, does creating Excel link is very difficult? If not can you give me some hint? So i can try myself?

    Sharul,

The report can be generated by anyone you grant access to the report. The method of granting access will depend on how you are generating the report (what reporting tool you are using).

The suggested answers of generating a report are great solutions (SSRS, Excel, SmartList, etc), but if you want to avoid creating a report for achieving your requirement you can simply apply “Field Level Security” to the Delete button of the User Activity window (this applies only if you are using GP10 or later GP versions).

Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > System > Field Level Security

    Thanks

    Jorge,

The other issue I would have with the User Activity window is having to give users the System Password to access it.

You are right Victoria, if the System Password has been set up, using “Field Level Security” is not a practical solution.
