Users can't access Veva through Business Central

When users access Vena directly from Excel, everything works fine. However, as soon as they try to open files from Business Central in Excel (e.g., by downloading and opening them), we encounter the error shown below.

We have integrated Vena through Microsoft 365, and when checking under:

admin.microsoft.com

Navigate to Show All > Settings > Integrated Apps

it shows that the Vena app is installed and running correctly (green status). We've also ensured that users are added to the appropriate group we created in our Azure environment.

Despite everything working fine within Excel itself, the integration fails when accessing Excel files via Business Central through the web. Could you please assist us in resolving this? 😊

Good morning, afternoon, or evening :) depending on your location!

It seems like the issue lies in the integration between Business Central and Vena when accessing Excel files through the web. Here are some steps and suggestions to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

    1. Verify Excel Add-In Configuration: Ensure that the Microsoft Dynamics Excel Add-In is correctly installed and configured. Sometimes, issues arise if the add-in is not properly set up or enabled for Business Central.
    2. Check User Permissions: Double-check that all users have the necessary permissions in both Business Central and Azure Active Directory (AAD). Ensure that the group created in Azure has the correct roles assigned for accessing integrated apps.
    3. Browser Compatibility: Test the functionality in different web browsers to rule out browser-specific issues. Clear the browser cache and ensure that pop-ups are not being blocked.
    4. Excel File Format: Confirm that the files being downloaded from Business Central are in a compatible format for Vena. If there are any discrepancies in the file format, it could cause integration issues.
    5. Update Business Central and Vena: Ensure that both Business Central and Vena are updated to their latest versions. Compatibility issues can sometimes arise from outdated software.
    6. Network and Firewall Settings: Check if there are any network or firewall restrictions that might be blocking the connection between Business Central and Vena when accessing files through the web.
    7. Contact Vena Support: If the issue persists, reaching out to Vena Customer Support might provide additional insights or solutions specific to their integration with Business Central.

    Hope this helps some!

Try using the browser version first:
Dynamics 365 Business Central: How to use Edit in Excel in the browser/web (Excel Online)

If this also cannot solve the problem, it may be that the format of the exported Excel version is different from the standard one, and you need to consult Microsoft to find out.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
