Can a machine operator enter production data directly into F&O Production Orders using a tablet form?

Our current manufacturing processes require machine operators to record production data on paper.  This recorded content is then entered into D365, with non D365 data just left on the paper to be retrieved if required.

Perfect state would have the operators enter production data into D365 via a tablet, but also have the non D365 data sent into a separate database.

Does such a solution with minimal customization already exist out there?  I doubt we are the only ones looking to make the leap away from paperwork?

    Hi SkyBlueInOregon,

Can you elaborate on what data you want to enter directly into the d365? Can you refer to the following link about the configuration menu items that warehouse workers use to perform work on a mobile device and see if it will meet your requirements?

    Hi Judy,

We would be looking to record amount of consumed items, including batches, plus labor and machine hours, and then record number of finished items.  But we are also looking to record non D365 data so there will likely be the need for customization.

Thank you for the link, very helpful.  Are there a range of apps to use on the mobile devices or is there a standard D365 app.
