Delete fields from solution?

Hi,

As today we have an test environment and a live environment. The customizations created in test is exported to live environment as an managed solution.

I need to create a rollup field, however we have reached the limit of 10 rollup fields for that entity.

The only solution is to delete one of the existing fields in test, and create the new field. (The field type should be different, whole numbv

But can I just do this? And how will it behave when importing the managed solution to live environment?

    Hi,

you can  add to the  test environment whole number field

again to the import to the solution in live environment

    another way:

you and clone and patch in add to the exact what you modification in those data can be

    imported in live environment

Ex: change to the whole number field only add to the live environment

    Thanks

But it stages a CRM 2016?

    What if i:

    1) Delete the field in test from my unmanaged solution

    2) Create a unmanaged solution in production and add the entity where the field exist

    3) Delete the field from the newly created unmanaged solution in production

    4) Create the new field in test environment

    5) Export the from test to production like normal

Will the system allow me to delete the field described in 3) ?

    Hi,

I think that you are kind of stuck here, but there is a solution.

The solutions that you were provided were for CRM 2016, and it seems like you are on CRM 2015, so you will not be able to Clone Solution or Patch.

You can increase the 10 limit to more than that using Poweshell:

    Add-PSSnapin -Name Microsoft.Crm.Powershell

Set-CrmAdvancedSetting -ConfigurationEntityName Deployment -Setting MaxRollupFieldsPerEntity -Value 11

    See the blog post below:

    tunnik.name/increase-rollup-fields-maximum

I would get rid of the fields once you move to CRM 2016 or higher by cloning Solution or Patches...

    Hope this helps.

So increasing it from 10 to 12 in the database for the entity will not have any significant impact? (Besides performance - but if it's 10 or 12 shouldn't matter that much).

And there is no way to remove the fields in CRM 2015?

Anyone knows if it will have any impact / lead to errors changing the value in the datebase?
