Support End of Visual Studio Code for BC Versions

Hello,

as we just heard from our ERP contractor, the support of their version of Visual Studio Code is ending for Business Central Version 16.17.
Can anyone explain to me the dependence between BC Version and VSC Version?

For now we are forced to update our ERP to the latest 16.19, but that will help only for the short run.
Is there any plan available when which version of Visual Studio Code will not be supporting different BC Versions anymore?

Or is there any kind of workaround for this problem?

Thx!
I have the same question (0)

I never heard about the Support end of VS Code for BC versions.

We just need to check BC support.
BC16 is already Out of support so I suggest upgrading to the latest version.

    And neither have I.
They state, that they can no longer make any new deployments or developments from tomorrow onwards. Because the VSC version is no longer compatible with our BC version.

I always thought that the switch von C/AL to AL was intended so that things like this won't happen... I mean BC Version 16.X is supports AL, what does the VSC version have to do with the version of BC??

We know that V16.X is no longer supported and that's why we are planning to update on a much more recent version. But we wanted to take time for this and didn't plan on making an additional minor update just to be able to still handle errors.

We can still be able to develop and deploy on BC16 or any other older BC versions.

Hi, I agree with Mohana, there is no such limitation. But when creating a new project in VS Code, the version that has terminated the service will not be displayed. Maybe your partner is talking about this.

And I personally recommend that you upgrade to a supported version.
