Lead Disqualification & Closing Opportunities as Lost

Hello all,

I'm looking for a way to require a description field when disqualifying a lead. I've already added custom options in the disqualify lead dropdown, but I'd like a window to pop up that will require the user to type a brief description as well. Is this possible?

I'd also like to customize the opportunity close window by adding additional options besides "out-sold" and "cancelled" and making the description field required. What is the best way to unlock the managed solution to allow customization?

I'm using CRM 2013 Online. Thanks for your help!

    Hi AJD!

You can customize the opportunity close options by modifying the Status Reason picklist values on the Opportunity through the Customizations area.

However, you CANNOT modify the screen or require additional fields via pop-up.  In order to do this, you would either need to create a custom Close Opportunity process with a custom screen OR use something like a dialog.  So, you might create a dialog and replace the Close as Won/Lost buttons on the command bar with new custom buttons that launch the dialog.

Another creative solution would be to remove the buttons from the command bar and have the users simply change a status on the form and use the Business Rules functionality to add required fields to the form.  Then you could have a workflow automatically close the opportunity.  You might also be able to build this into the process flow on top of an opportunity.
