Mass field change

Posted on by 1,045

Hi- I've got an account number field in my Account entity that I need to perform a mass change on.  All the account numbers in the field have to be replaced with a different unique value.  I have a cross-reference spreadsheet with the original account number and the new account number.  What would be the best method for replacing the value in this field with this data?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi JBill,

You can also export the record in excel - just the account number column ( in advance find u can select column).

Then change the value with new value using excel manipulation and import it back.

Whenever you export record, the GUID also comes as hidden field so u can update account numbe rand import it - the corresponding GUID record will update the account number.

    This applies to both on-prem/online.

    Thanks,

    PS

    Hi JBill

This solution I think only aplies to CRM OnLine, you can go and create a view of the records you want to edit with the columns you want to edit (include the account number) and one column to order the records.

In CRM on the grid view for accounts  click on the button "Export to Excel" and then "Open in Excel OnLine"

All the records on the view will be displayed on excel online, then order them by name or other field, do the same on your spreadsheet and do a little check to see if records are in the same order, copy and paste the values into the account number field in the excel online and click on Save button, this is a massive update.

    Hope this helps you.
