Triggering Plugin to send email in C#

Is this possible? I keep getting security credential issues. Like I'm not permitted to access the SMTP() class.

I am using .NET services (.NET Mail) to send email but if it's easier to do it in CRM, I'm all for it, I just don't know how.

How do I give my program the right permission to execute anything it wants?

    Hi,

    I am assuming you are not going to use CRM email functionality just to send emails from an external application then that will not be a good idea because that will introduce another layer of complexity since you are already having security credential issues.

    If you are trying to send an email from a plugin/ custom workflow activity or from an application integrated with dynamics crm then it is no doubt a good idea to use email functionality available in CRM because you can then link those emails with other entities like case.

    You can use Server Side sync to send emails out in CRM (or use Email router).
