Error "No approval workflow for this record type is enabled."

Can someone help me understand the root cause of this issue and how to fix it. To summarize, there a number of workflows created for general journal this is to cover different kinds of general journal entries with different range of amounts. Approval user set up for approvers are successfully set up. The no. series for all general journal batch name used are set up completely. The approval workflow has correct values or logic for amount range. The approval flow uses specific approver. Lastly, the approval workflow is already enabled. However, when trying to submit the journal entries for a specific range of amount that suffice the criteria, it would end up with this issue "No approval workflow for this record type is enabled."

Hello,

This usually means Business Central did not find any enabled workflow entry point that exactly matches the journal you submitted, so even if approval users, number series, approver, and workflow status all look fine, the real problem is normally the workflow filters/conditions most often the journal template/batch, the amount range logic, or a gap/overlap in the conditions between multiple workflows for different ranges. With general journals, BC only starts approval when one enabled workflow matches that specific record and event, so if the entry falls outside the configured filter by even a little, you get “No approval workflow for this record type is enabled.” Best fix: review the first step/event conditions of each workflow, verify the exact journal template and batch being used, confirm the amount being evaluated is the same one your condition expects, and test with one simplified enabled workflow first; if that works, the issue is in the conditions, not in approver setup.

Hello,

Likely it is the workflow's filter condition is setup wrongly.

It will be good if you can provide screenshots of the different workflow conditions.

It seems that the criteria in the approval workflow doesn't match with what you have in the journal. If you post screenshots of your approval workflow we can see what it's missing.

This is clearly still a Workflow settings issue. Try removing some filter criteria first and see if the problem persists.
Then add them one by one to test if any conditions are not being met. It's tedious, but it's the only way.
