Outgoing e-mail router will not authorize with exchange web services

We have CRM 2011 online and Office365.

I'm trying to get the e-mail router set up for using Exchange Online with the ews url of "https://by2prd****.outlook.com/ews/exchange.asmx".

If I manually browse to the ews url it asks for user credentials and I can login using the same credentials I am supplying the e-mail router. However the e-mail router always says

"Outgoing Status: Failure - An error occurred while checking the connection to e-mail server https://by2prd****.outlook.com/ews/exchange.asmx. The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized."

Running out of ideas.

    Jonathan,

Would you consider configuring your outgoing profile a little bit different?

If so, here is a cool solution I created to configure the Email Router:

    Good Luck!

Interesting approach. I'm going to give it a shot. And will report back when I try it.

Sounds good Jonathan, let me know how that goes...since I came up with the idea, I have deployed Email Router about 20 times and it worked every single time...let along the fact that it takes like 10 minutes to do it. :)

This is not working for me. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to do other things besides what's in that guide though.

I'm not a system admin so this is all new territory for me. I'm one of the programmers at our company and somehow got roped into maintaining our junk.

The e-mail router just does nothing. It doesn't fail to connect and it doesn't succeed. It just sits there.

    Jonathan,

Is it sitting during the "Validation" process?

    Where is it sitting on?

    All it says is...

    "Server: localhost

    Testing..."

Are you sure you are running SMTP services and all is working?

When the Email Router is configured to run as a Virtual SMTP server, this step takes like a second to run.
