MRP simultaneous production of sub Assembly

Hi everyone,

I’m a total newbie to D365 MRP and running into a planning challenge in D365 Supply Chain Management related to paired production items (TX and RX).

In our setup, a finished product requires one TX and one RX module, and both modules must go through a Burn-In test together.

The Burn-In chamber needs one TX + one RX at exactly the same time, otherwise the test cannot run.

Here’s the problem:

  • Both TX and RX appear as separate components in the parent BOM
  • MRP plans them independently, based on their individual lead times and coverage settings
  • Even when they are required by the same parent, the planned production orders do not align
  • We end up with TX ready earlier and RX later (or vice-versa), blocking the Burn-In process

What I need:

A way for MRP to force TX and RX to be planned with the same requirement date, so they:

  • get planned together
  • get firmed together
  • are available at the same time
  • arrive as a matched pair for the Burn-In chamber
I hope I have posted this in the right place and Would really appreciate any hints.

thanks a lot
Donat

    Hi Donat,

    Good Day.

I also faced similar challenge in one of my previous implementation project. In that I have configured phantom BOM. In your case you can configure a phantom BOM in that case both component will be considered as single subassembly.

Let me know if that works

    Thank you,
    Vandan
