SSRS Instance is blank for CRM 2016 Installation

I am trying to install the SrsDataConnector for CRM 2016.  When I get to the SSRS Instance name, the drop-down is blank and I cannot select an instance: I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP4) (KB4018073) - 11.0.7001.0 (X64) on a server different than that of the CRM application server.

I definitely have a reporting server running. I can see it in SQL Server Configuration Manager.

I did some research online, but I could not find a definitive solution to this problem.  Can anyone guide me in the right direction?  Thanks.

    Hi,

Are you installing connector on database server ? .. You should install it on database server.

There should be log information from the setup program in %appdata%\Microsoft\MSCRM\Logs - this should give more information, which should be helpful

Make sure the SQL agent is running on the target SSRS server. I've seen this happen before and it is usually resolved by starting that service.

    Hi ,

Seems you missed one step when you install  in  Configuration Database Server page did you Specify  the default instance of the SQL Server?

You need to enter the name of the computer that is running SQL Server and contains the configuration database (MSCRM_CONFIG)

As Mansoor mentioned earlier comment you should install SrsDataConnector  in your database server.

Please refer below msdn reference -

    technet.microsoft.com/.../hh699807.aspx

    Hope this helps

    Gu Mansour,

    my problem:

Dynamics CRM 365. Environment Server1 with Crm installation, Server2 with SQL Server.

The SQL CRM instance is default and has no name. I can't install the Dynamics SSRS. Instance Name is empty and greyed out

I expected the installation to recognize that it is not a named instance and continue directly with the installation.

    Can you help?

    Thanks

Not sure if it helps, but in doing the V9 installation we had SSRS on the CRM server while SQL was on its own server.  The CRM Server install will complain if you don't have SP2 for SQL 2016 installed.  The SSRS will not complain, it just will show a blank instance window.  Once I applied SP2 to the SSRS 2016, all was well.

Thanks for your post! Applying SP2 to SSRS 2016 resolved our issue as well.

Thank you very much @ScottJung. my scenario is same like yours. the issue is finally resolved after I applied SP2 to the SSRS 2016 which is installed on CRM server.
