Hi all,

We have some problem when we try generate report from SSRS.

if we generate the report with little data, the report is fine. but the problem when we generate report with lots of data, the report is timeout.

this report is our custom report

this issue occurred on production environment.

can we increase timeout in SSRS?

thank you

You can't change the timeout, as far as I know. F&O has a different solution for this kind of things - pre-processing data providers. It means that instead of generation the data during printing, you first generate all the data and only then run the report. A slight introduction is under Help prevent long-running reports from timing out.

It is not a good idea to increase the timeout value, even on the SQL Server reporting service settings, because it is too tempting to repeat it next month also. Try to optimise your report, e.g. using preprocessing, you can find ideas in the blog mentioned by Martin previously.

There is no place for change parameter like timeout for RS in D365 (like in AX2012), really?

Pre-processing data providers method is not an effective solution, because if we have a report with a lot of data and it is generated more than 10min. it will fail too.

Maybe someone tried to change such parameter like: TimeDataRetrieval (field in RS tab, ExecutionLogStorage and view ExecutionLog3), but where? Is it possible?
