Label display name not updating when importing managed solution.

Hi All,

When I import the managed solution, label change is not reflecting in UI. However, I can find the label change in customizations.xml file.

This issue has been reported earlier also in CRM 2011.

https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/151413

But , I can see this happening in CRM 2016.

Please let me know if any one has faced this issue and resolved it.

Thanks

    Hi,

Are you selecting to Maintain or Overwrite customizations when you import? If the form label was changed on the destination org and you select Maintain, I'm pretty sure the label won't change. If you select Overwrite, the label should be updated.

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question.

    Thanks,

     Aiden

    Hi Mridula,

You will face this issue in case of unmanaged changes over managed entities in the organization. These managed entities maintains the customization even after importing new changes.

    you can check this-

    Hi Mridula,

I am not sure you did any changes on your managed solution  or not . But this is one of the reason not to change the label in destination environment .

As an alternate I would suggest after export the  managed solution ,just extract the solution file and go to cistomization.xml  and try to find the label which you have changed , if its not there then try to update i the XML.

This is sometimes happen when we directly import translation file as well on top of managed solution.

So don't do any type of changes on managed solution.

Hi Mridula & for everyone else who faced this issue.

I have faced this issue multiple times with managed solution. as a matter of fact managed solution doest like any unmanaged changes in the target environment. the change might have been done in the past hence this happens. i would say 2016 has this issue.

you have to perform below steps in your source environment:

    1. remove field from the form and publish you changes.

    2. add the field again with whatever the label you need and publish changes again.

    3. export the solution and import to target.

if this doesnt work  try to recreate the whole section instead of just this field.

let me know how it goes.
