D365 F&O Masterplanning Configurations

Posted on by 8
We setup the mrp for our products and our products include configuration.

However,
We do not want the master planning to work with configuration, we want to calculate the minimum quantity according to the total quantity.

Is there a method to calculate configured products without configuration?

Thanks

What granularity of inventory dimensions planning runs at is controlled by the dimension group (Product, Storage, Tracking) assigned to the released product.

That said, you can't disable coverage by product dimensions (Config, size, style, color), only storage(Site, warehouse, inv. status) or tracking(batch, serial) dimensions.

Also, you don't have to create an item coverage record for each configuration, only the ones you want to keep some minimum inventory on hand for in a specific site / warehouse.  If there's no item coverage record, planning will plan based on the coverage group on the released product -> plan fasttab, and if nothing there, using the general coverage group defined on the master planning parameters.

I want to remove the requirement of the configuration box.
Because we may not use every configuration, but when we fill in every configuration here, it appears on the planned order screen and this can be confusing.

    Hy,
I'm not sure to understand your question accordingly.
You want to plan products that are coming from a product configuration.
What should be the source for the demand: are these configuration within sales orders, minimum stock quantities or any sales forecasts?
Or do you just want to calculate production quanitites on product level, without planing bom line items?
May be you can precise your question.
