ITem needs item tracking code

Hi,

Please can you suggest how to add ITEM TRACKING code to this item please. We cannot add it because ledger entries exist already

You can use configuration packages without validation on the item tracking code field.

I wrote a blog post about using configuration packages and how to remove validation here.

And I also wrote a blog post about changing the item type on the item card using this method, its the same idea as changing the item tracking code here.

And lastly, only do this if the item quantity is 0. If its not 0, you will have major issues.

Hi,

I have tried this by using Configuration package, but still the error is occurring that is "You cannot change Item Tracking Code because there are one or more ledger entries for this item".

Also if we check the stock, the Qty on Sales order is showing 2 (1st screenshot) and also if we delete SO and update the Item tracking code then also we cannot update the Item Tracking code as Ledger entry showing for this Item as shown in (2nd screenshot).

So can you please advice do I need to do Negative adjustment and again positive adjustment for this ? and if it is write can you please tell me the process how can I do the adjustment in "Warehouse Item Journal".

If you're getting the error mentioned that means you haven't setup the configuration package to remove the validation on the item tracking code field. The blog posts I linked show how to do this.

In the warehouse item journal you can do a negative adjustment and then a positive adjustment to take the item out of inventory and then put it back.

But I think in this case its better if you setup a new item card that has the item tracking code, and start using this new item instead. You can transfer the inventory in stock from the old item to the new item.
