Hi:

Is there a way to change an Item Type, on the backend, for situations where the item has already been posted?

    Hello,

    In case I had a fully understanding about your question, you have an Item with posted entries (Stock Item) and now you want to change it to a Service Item?

    If it's case you can't change the Item Type directly, in case there is already posted entries for that Item.

    I would recommend you to follow the below procedures:

    - Create at Item Journals a negative adjustment to put the Item Stock (Item with wrong Type) as zero;

    - Block the Item card to avoid users use that Item in the  future;

    - Create a new Item card with the right Type and start using this new Item card.

    Hope this can help you.

    Just the item and no other areas of the data that gets created with item postings? Thinking about switching from service to inventory for instance. A data fix could be done if you can task a developer with it. Effort to start from scratch is perhaps less as fixing the data might result in unwanted side effects.
