Edit in Excel - turn off field validation?

Is it possible to turn off field validation when using the Edit in Excel feature on BC?

I know it can be done using configuration package but I want to know for sure using Edit in Excel.

For example, say the phone # field allows only digits but contained some text. Could you turn off such a validation check in edit in excel?

Unfortunately, there is no way as far as I know.
You can turn off Validation in Configuration Package, but not in Edit in Excel.
