Set up Current User Email Account in BC V20 On-Premise (Redirect URI)

I'm attempting to set up a Current User Email Account in BC V20 On-Premise. I've already successfully set up an SMTP account. I'm following the procedure(s) on the links below:-

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/admin-how-setup-email#create-an-app-registration-for-business-central-in-azure-portal

I've gone through the steps to create an AAD App Registration, but I'm struggling with the Redirect URI. I've currently got it set to:-

localhost:8080/.../OAuthLanding.htm

I have switched on the 'Allow HttpClient Requests' in the 'Email - Current User Connector' extension settings.

When I go to the 'Email Application AAD Registration' page in BC. I enter the AAD Client ID, Secret, Redirect URI above and click [Verfiy Registration]. At this point, a blank browser window appears for a few seconds then disappears, leaving another page displaying the message below:-

Waiting for a response. Do not close this page.
A sign in window is open. To continue, pick the account you want to use and accept the conditions. This message will close when you are done.

But the sign in window has already disappeared and the message window never closes.

Where am I going wrong?

I have the same question (0)

Sorry I can't seem to get the URI to display properly.

    Hi Nick...

I have the same issue, did you ever resolve this?

    Regards

    Rob

If memory serves... No, I'm afraid not. We bypassed Current User Email Account and went with following SMTP set-up:-

Default Email Account of type: SMTP containing a fixed group email address (e.g.) accounts@.... This default account has ALL scenarios assigned to it and is intended for general usage in BC.

We then created a further SMTP email account for each employee/user with their email address specified in the Email Address field of the Email Account. These accounts are intended for use by a custom extension we have running where we don't want to send from the group email address described above.

Obviously, this configuration was specific to our requirement.

you need to create a MS ticket and it is very easy for them to check from their end.

Hi All... I was able to resolve my issue and have it all working now. There were a number of small issues, I think mainly to the documentation been fairly generic and not specific enough, i.e. some of the links go to generic MS API App Registration when it could be a detailed step-by-step for BC only.

I would like to hear the details of what you did to make this work. I would agree the documentation was not great here.

I setup 8 email accounts--all using SMTP OAuth2.0--including current user. This was not an intuitive approach but it works.

    Hi Greg

The main thing we were missing was the "Accounts in any organizational directory (Any Azure AD directory - Multitenant) needed to be selected as opposed to "Single tenant".

This setting is in the App Registration - Authentication - Redirect URI area.

The default value is "Single Tenant" so needs to change to "Multitenant".

I am not sure if you have the same issue but this sorted it for us.

    Regards

    Rob
